Walking Distance to University
As a student, living as close to the university as possible is a good thing for many reasons; not least of which is that you can get up later for your morning lectures. However, it also means that you can walk to the university, rather than driving or taking public transport, reducing your carbon footprint. All of our student accommodation is only a short walk from the University of Birmingham, and the range of local amenities which are located in Selly Oak.
Access to the City Centre
When you can't find what you're looking for in Selly Oak, you have access to the metropolitan city of Birmingham, the second largest city in the UK. The city centre is easily reachable from Selly Oak; on a day with nice weather, you can walk down the canal and reach the city centre in under an hour. Otherwise, you can take one of the many public transport options such as the train from Selly Oak station, or you can catch one of the regular buses running into the city centre.
Insulated Living
When building our student accommodation, we ensure that the structure is well insulated with double glazing as well as all the correct safety-regulated cladding. This helps your accommodation stay warm over the winter months, reducing the need to use electric central heating. We also use laminated wood flooring in our properties, which retains more heat than carpet, and means we produce less waste if carpets need to be replaced.
Fully Furnished
Moving house can be a stressful and difficult process. We aim to make this process easier by providing accommodation that is fully furnished with all the essentials. Doing this means we can reduce the waste produced when new furnishings are bought when students move into new accommodation. We also have a dedicated maintenance team who can repair any broken furnishings, further reducing waste.
Solar Panels
Our new builds, such as Uni House, have been constructed with solar panels implemented into the structure. The renewable energy produced by these panels is used throughout the building, meaning every one of these luxury studios is powered by solar energy. This reduces our carbon footprint and overall energy costs.
Electric Appliances
All of our student properties are fully fitted with electrical appliances, which means some of the energy they use comes from renewable sources. As an example, we use electric ovens in our student properties instead of gas ovens, and central heating is provided by electric heaters. We also use LED lighting to reduce energy consumption and costs.
