Becoming a Fresher at UoB

Starting your studies as a Fresher at the University of Birmingham will be an exciting and memorable experience.

Congratulations on your new milestone. You are finally starting university as a fresher. By definition, as a fresher, you are new to university. The term fresher is a shortened version of the American word “Freshman”. UoB kicks off its academic year with Fresher’s Week. This week provides plenty of opportunities to make friends from diverse nationalities, and try new hobbies, foods, sports, and activities. Here are things to expect at Freshers’ Week in Birmingham.

The Freshers’ Week in UoB begins with an orientation session where students are welcomed by university staff, who brief students about their courses and all the support available for them during their time at the university.
